China’s Wood‑based Panel Exports to Middle East Keep Rising
China’s export business for wood-based Building Panels has seen solid growth in the Middle Eastern market in the first half of 2026. Industry data shows that the outbound shipment volume of mainstream panel products including plywood, OSB and MDF achieved a year-on-year increase of 12% to 13%. This stable growth trend is closely tied to the continuous infrastructure construction boom across major Middle Eastern countries.
Major economies in the region, especially Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have kept rolling out large-scale infrastructure and urban renewal projects throughout the year. These ongoing construction initiatives have created strong and sustained market demand for construction-grade wood panels. Unlike the past when buyers mainly focused on pricing, local importers are now raising their product screening standards significantly.
At present, Middle Eastern buyers pay great attention to practical product performance and qualification certification. Key inspection indicators include moisture-proof grade, formaldehyde emission compliance and complete CR product certification. All these standard requirements have become essential thresholds for Chinese panel products to enter the local market smoothly.
For Chinese exporters targeting the Middle East market, simply relying on price advantage is no longer enough to secure orders.
